In recent years, outdoor motorcycle riding has rapidly gained popularity as a lifestyle choice for younger generations seeking health, freedom, and stress relief. However, compared to the fast development of electrification and intelligent mobility in the automotive industry, motorcycles still lag behind in safety innovation, smart features, and riding experience upgrades.

“Hephaestion” is a transformable electric motorcycle concept that integrates both sport and touring modes into one vehicle. By leveraging the compact structural advantages of electric motorcycles, the design enables dynamic adaptation across different riding scenarios, balancing competitive riding performance, long-distance comfort, and enhanced safety. The project explores key ergonomic requirements under two riding postures and translates human–machine interface data into a coherent design solution.

The questionnaire set 13 questions, including 2 lie detector questions, used to remove invalid questionnaires. The questionnaire was released to the online community of motorcycle community (Moto Fan, WeChat Group, etc.), and 157 questionnaires were collected within a week, of which 102 were valid.

Firstly, I set up a interview outline, set 12 questions to talk with the riders, and continuously modified the interview outline with the feedback received during the interview. The interviewees were selected from Xiaohongshu, Weibo, Bilibili and other platforms who have rich riding experience.
